European dancers and choreographer to join Vietnam’s Universal Steps


VietNamNet Bridge – The organizing board of the second Universal Steps, the Vietnamese version of the world-famous “Dancing with the stars” show, has invited ten professional dancers and a choreographer from Europe to join the show this year.

They are experienced dancers who have won many prizes in Europe.

The show hosts are also fixed, with senior MC Thanh Bach and singer Doan Trang, who won the second prize at the first Universal Steps competition held in the southern coastal city of Vung Tau last year. Last year Thanh Bach and actress Thanh Van were the hosts.

Doan Trang is chosen as the new host for her speaking talents,her experience, and understanding about dance.

Movie director Quang Dung cannot join the judging panel this year. The organizing board said that it has asked the show copyright holder to change the format from four to five jury members, including movie director Le Hoang, leading Vietnamese dancesport athletes Khanh Thi and Chi Anh.

Dancing with the Stars is the name of several international television series based on the format of the British TV series Strictly Come Dancing, which is distributed by BBC Worldwide – the commercial arm of the BBC. Currently the format has been licensed to 32 countries.

In Vietnam, the show was under the local name Bước nhảy hoàn vũ (Universal Steps). The first season was air on VTV3 from April 11 to June 20, 2010.

The second season will include ten shows, to be aired at 8 pm every Sunday on VTV3, as of April 17.

In the first season, actress Thanh Van was the winner.
